Tonight I hung out with a few friends. It really was a very nice day, like old times, seeing each other in the daylight, everyone relaxed and fresh rather than stressed and in a state of hyperalertness.
Driving one of my friends home, she (one of my only Christian school friends) asked me about where I was spiritually, and I told her, trying to be as honest as I could. Which mean there were a lot of pauses, and hand gestures, and half-finished sentences, and tangents, and remarks ending with ,”You know what I mean?” On her part, she was kind enough to say she understood and urge me to continue.
At the end of it, she was quiet. Then she said to me, “You know, when we were in school, I was worried about you and your relationship with God. I’m not anymore.” I found that to be the most encouraging comment.
